I chose Mr. Best as my mentor because I thought he had the expertise for needed to guide me through my project. He is a science teacher and also apart of the neuroscience triangle which was really helpful. He had the knowledge of all of the things I lacked.
One sentence Summary:
For my Capstone I explored various topics in Neuroscience. I ran small mini courses within SLA and the Franklin Institute that educated students about the brain and all the things going on with it. On my final day of my mini course, I did brain dissections. Also as a part of my capstone, I paired with Jasmine Hussain and we did science carts at the franklin.
Abstract:
My goal for this capstone was to learn about something that would impact my future, and understand it well enough to teach it to someone else. Over the course of this year and most of my high school career I have been studying and learning about Neuroscience. I have attained knowledge on this particular subject and created lessons to help guide the understanding of this topic for others. My final product is a website documenting my process and broadcasting all of my artifacts. If I could use one word to describe my process I would say rocky. In the beginning it was very hard choosing a product that I would dedicate an entire year to. After I had an idea of what I wanted to do, I was on the roll. I chose to do my capstone because I was once that eager student who wanted to learn. I had an interest that I pursued on my own and I would of payed anything to get the experience that I offered. Over this time period I have learned to be more independent in my studies and I learned how to communicate my ideas better. I have learned an abundant amount of information pertaining neuroscience and I can’t wait to use it to navigate through my future.
